(CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD NEWSLETTER PDF)

Participation and involvement are the keys to success.

Fall is here and the leaves will start to fall, making it one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. Fall brings the start of the football season and the baseball playoffs.

The next General Membership meeting will be on October 19 2017 at 7:30 PM, at Erasing Edwards A.L. Post 1600, Pomona N.Y.

The Brinks Memorial will be held on October 20, 2017 at Route 59 at the entrance of the NYSTWY, at 4:00 P. M. Please wear your cap at the ceremony. T

he flag of the United States and the National Anthem are more than a piece of red, white and blue cloth and pleasant music. The disrespect of football players in the NFL who kneel instead of standing is unacceptable. The owners of the teams in the NFL have taken no steps to stop this behavior. Our freedom did not come without a price. Valley Forge and Second World War are only two examples. Ask the veterans and their families for their opinion.

Please remember to vote 'NO' to the Constitutional Convention.

The opinion of the writer does not reflect the opinion of the organization.

God Bless America and keep her strong.

Bart Foley,
President

Standing for the National Anthem is not an option:

(The following was written by Al Chestone, in response to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand during the National Anthem. )

How fortunate you are to play football in the NFL, Before rowdy or dedicated fans who boo and yell. The field and boundaries are all lined in white. In the center of the field a choir can be seen in the bright light.

Proud Americans stand as the National Anthem is about to be sung, As a reminder of our freedom and how it was won. The fighting soldiers were male and female, Black, Latino, Asian and White. Many of whom lost their lives, an arm, a leg and even their precious sight.

Battlefields were not manicured but rather bloodied with dirty old rags. They crawled in mud and filth to capture a mountain and plant a flag. Their game of war unlike football was hell on earth, never to be forgotten, Be it in Europe, Pacific, Viet Nam, Korea, The Desert, Iraq or Afghanistan.

Champions in sports are celebrated with parades, showered with confetti. Some soldiers of war have been showered with Agent Orange and so deadly. Let's turn back to Mr. K and his cowardly act of disrespect toward our Flag. Ask that he face the mothers and fathers who are left with only dog tags.

Ask Mr. K to face some Black, Latino, Asian, and White wounded warriors, And mention his refusal to stand at the playing of the National Anthem. Ask Mr. K to face the group of female soldiers who have lost arms and legs And state why he refuses to stand at the playing of the National Anthem.

These warriors have enabled us to look for all the tomorrows and sunsets to follow, For they have made this land so sacred, so hallow. They are like candles that will forever shine, For they have brightened up another place, more perfect, more precious, more divine.

So Mr. K, why not be a true role model and helper of the poor and address what you consider to be wrong-doings towards minorities, rather than act as a rabble-rouser And encourage disrespect of our Flag and our National Anthem.

About the Author: Al Chestone, a true patriot, was an accomplished individual. He was active in his community, wrote several books, fought in the Second World War, and worked as an agent for the FBI. Unfortunately, Mr. Chestone (at the young age of 94) passed away soon after he penned the above. May he rest in peace!
